Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino
Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino:
Located in the heart of St. Maarten’s entertainment capitol, Maho, on the island’s southwest coast, is the Sonesta Maho. The largest resort on St. Maarten, 534 rooms sit on 10 acres of lush, beachfront property, beautifully landscaped with tropical gardens, fountains, pools, lounges, and walkways. The Sonesta Maho prides itself on being a “destination within a destination”. Within the grounds of the resort are two outdoor pools with a swim-up bar, children’s pool, four tennis courts, lush gardens, five restaurants and bars, a fitness center, a water sports and activities desk with specific programs for children, nightlife, special events, meetings, weddings, etc. Also here, is the GoodLife Spa, rated #1 in St. Maarten.

The Maho Bay Beach is a gorgeous white sand beach secluded from the busy promenade. Also here, is the famous Sunset Beach (home to Sunset Beach Bar and Grill), where giant commercial jets zoom in overhead for a landing on the closest runway to a beach in the world. For a quieter, more natural atmosphere, head to Burgeaux Bay in neighboring Beacon Hill, just a five-minute walk. Great for snorkeling, this is the spot to reconnect with nature and the ocean’s abundant tropical marine life. In the other direction, towards Cupecoy, check out Mullet Bay, a local favorite for its picturesque setting. Brilliant white sand between the glittering turquoise sea and lush palm and sea grape trees takes you away from it all. One side of the beach has a lively beach bar and grill, while the opposite end is commotion and beach chair-free, for a serene getaway or a quiet sunset. Condos and villas available for sale and rentals in and near maho.

If you find time to leave the resort and all of its amenities, Maho offers 40 boutiques, international restaurants, bars, nightclubs, live Caribbean dancing shows, Casino Royale, salons, grocery stores, pharmacy, galleries, and more. Neighboring Mullet Bay is also home to St. Maarten’s only 18-hole golf course, nestled between the sea, green hills, and the Lagoon.
