Simpson bay resort the ex Pelican Resort

Pelican Resort:

located in the prestigious Pelican Key area, is one of St. Maarten’s most well-known and oldest time-share resorts.  Its location on a lush tropical hillside in southern St. Maarten, overlooking Simpson Bay and the Caribbean Sea, provides for exquisite views from all 342 units.  Units range from 2-person through 8-person occupancy, all with private terraces with alfresco dining and lounge furniture.  Each unit provides all the comforts of home, including free wireless internet access, satellite TV, direct dial phones, maid service, fully outfitted kitchens and furnishings.  The décor varies between buildings but is consistent on the theme of cheerful yet soothing Caribbean colors and design, complimented by Antillean artwork in each unit.  The grounds of the resort are gated and protected further by 24-hour security with ample private parking inside the gates.  Inside the resort, amenities and activities abound with four tennis courts, five unique swimming pools, a children’s pool, rooftop Jacuzzis (for Marina Building residents), concierge and activities center, Aquamania water sports center, L’Aqualigne Spa, international restaurants, a French café and bakery, boutiques, grocery store and deli, Hollywood Casino, the Red Piano Bar, and a private beach.

The beach at Pelican resort is secluded by two stone jetties for calm surf, soft white sand, tiki huts and umbrellas for shade, beach chairs, and a beach bar and grill at each end of the beach.  Around the point towards the residential section of Pelican Key, the beach continues as a natural sanctuary for young marine life and sparkling shells in the many tidal pools.  Toward Simpson Bay, Kim Sha Beach offers drinks, food, live music, dancing, and beach bonfires into the night at Buccaneer’s and La Bamba.  For a quieter setting, try neighboring Simpson Bay Beach, a miles long stretch of white sand uninterrupted by high-rise buildings and resorts, great for long walks, swimming, and jogging.  At the far end of the beach, stop at Karakter beach lounge for food, drinks, and great ambiance.

Pelican Key offers many amenities, most of which lie inside the grounds of Pelican Resort.  Even more options are available just at the bottom of the hill in the town of Simpson Bay.  Entertainment is endless at nightclubs, international restaurants and cafes, bars, movie theater, salons, boutiques, water sports, dive shops, marinas, an old fashioned carousel and ice cream parlour, and more.  Residential amenities are also numerous and convenient: banks, post office, gas station, pharmacies, doctors’ offices, dry cleaners, electronics shops, etc.  A five-minute drive takes you to St. Maarten Montessori School and a ten-minute drive leads to Learning Unlimited Academy.

It's a great way in paragraph form to get to know the neighborhoods and areas in our little Paradise. A little more about me; I had the pleasure of growing up  in St. Maarten and have always been involved in our family owned Real Estate and Development company, Sunshine Properties, founded by my father Dieter Schaede a pioneer in the Real Estate industry.
